Bad Day for a Street Protest!

I remember, on 30th March 2014, the windows of my Asakusa hotel rattling like crazy from some seriously high winds and pelting rain. I was hearing some kind of recorded message playing over and over from a vehicle that was moving slowly along the street below. I have NO idea what the woman’s voice was saying as I’m not prolific in the language yet, but I imagine it was the equivalent of: “Get indoors! Hold those skirts down, ladies!”

I had no intention of exploring outside when I’d never heard winds like this before.

About an hour later, I heard more commotion outside the hotel, so I decided to look down from my 22nd-floor room to see a crowd approaching. It looked and sounded every bit like a protest or demonstration. A man was shouting quite passionately through a megaphone from the top of a vehicle, and the crowd was chanting back certain things he had said. It all sounded a bit angry.

Apologies for the blurriness of some of the photos. I got my camera settings wrong in my rush to zoom in and capture the action!

Not sure if these are Police or traffic guards…

The high winds blew most of the bicycles over!

The vehicle with the megaphone…

Here come the protesters/demonstrators…

It seemed very organised, whatever it was.

The tail end of it.

I’ll have to ask Izumi or Miho what this is likely to be all about, but it may be difficult for them to know as I never recorded what was being shouted. Oh well. It was interesting for me to watch, anyway. :)
